Performing Arts Lunchtime Clubs – A Creative Opportunity for Students
We are thrilled to announce an exciting new addition to our Performing Arts program this term!
Starting in Week 3, our team has introduced a series of lunchtime “Performing Arts Tasters” designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore different aspects of performing arts in a fun and interactive way. These hands-on experiences will allow our students to develop their skills and creativity in a variety of exciting activities.
This term, we are offering four different lunchtime clubs, each tailored to specific age groups:
Year 5/6 Radio Club Students will have the chance to set up our sound system and run their very own live radio show. This fun and engaging club will include playing music, running games, conducting interviews with teachers and fellow students, and even taking song requests. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in the world of broadcasting!
Year 5/6 and Secondary Ukulele Band In this club, students will come together to learn how to play the ukulele as a group. They’ll develop essential skills such as tuning and maintaining the instrument, and work on playing a song as part of a band. Teamwork and collaboration will be key as students enjoy making music together.
Year 3/4 Ukulele Band Similar to the 5/6 Ukulele Band, this group will focus on teaching students how to play the ukulele as a team. Students will learn the basics of the instrument and work towards performing songs together, building both their musical and collaborative skills in the process.
Year Prep-2 Dance Crew Our youngest performers will have the chance to shine in our Dance Crew program. Students will learn a variety of dance moves and sequences, with opportunities to create their own choreography. They will also showcase their talents through performances for their peers, allowing them to express themselves creatively through movement.
PE Update – Term 2 🏃♀️
Welcome back to Term 2! It’s already shaping up to be an exciting and active term in Physical Education at Armstrong Creek School, with students across all year levels building important skills and preparing for upcoming events.
Prep – Mastering the Basics Our youngest students are diving into the world of Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS), with a strong focus on throwing and catching. Through fun, hands-on activities and games, Preps are developing their hand-eye coordination and building the foundations for future sports participation.
Grade 1/2 – Kicking Into Gear Students in Grades 1 and 2 are concentrating on the FMS skill of kicking. They’re learning to control their foot placement, balance, and technique through skill stations and small-sided games that promote both accuracy and power.
Grades 3–12 – Athletics Focus It’s all about athletics for our Grade 3 to 12 students! With our House Athletics Day coming up later in the term, students are working hard to refine their running, jumping, and throwing techniques. Events like sprinting, long jump, shot put, and relay races are being practised to help everyone feel confident and ready to represent their house with pride.
As always, we love seeing the students give their best effort, show great sportsmanship, and support each other through every challenge. We’re looking forward to a fun and energetic term of PE!
Let’s keep moving, learning, and growing – together!
