College Captain news
Hello fellow Homestead Community Members,
I am Kemi Ilori, one of your school captains for 2025! I am so delighted to be in this role and I've loved talking to and getting to know the students and teachers in this wonderful school.
My goal in this role is to help my students have the best possible year they can, and leave a legacy at this school of kindness, hard work and empowerment.
As I've mentioned, I am a people person, so please feel free to come up to me whenever you spot me around the school, and let me know what ideas you have for this school!
Something that I try to live by is “always be yourself”. At homestead, we have many teachers that accept us for who we are, and us as peers should do the same. Being in senior school has its challenges, but if we all try and implement some kindness into our day, it’ll make school life much easier for us all.
Hello everyone!I am Manasvi, and I am honoured to be part of the student leader team, as a College Captain. I am really grateful that I got the opportunity to make our school a place where everyone feels included, heard, and proud to be part of the community. It has been a great start already, and we are already working on some exciting school events that I can’t wait for you all to be a part of. I’m really looking forward to helping make our school a place where everyone feels included, heard, and proud to belong. I have always enjoyed being involved in school events and supporting others, and feel free to approach us with ideas, questions/concerns , or even just for a chat.
New Darwin House Leader
Hello everyone. My name is Mohammed and I will be your new Head of Darwin House this year. I'm excited to be given this opportunity and I can't wait to be a student leader for you and work on
creating fun and exciting events throughout the year. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any ideas for house related events and activities or if you have any other queries or concerns you'd like to discuss, I am happy to help!
New Head of Student Voice
We sadly farewelled Klowie earlier this year and so now Lucinda has taken over the role of Head of Student Voice. Lucinda has been in the Student Voice Team for a number of years and so she is the perfect person to lead the team. Students are encouraged to pass on their ideas, opinions, and feedback to the Student Voice Team so we can collaboratively work on improving the school environment together.
Student Voice News
The Student Voice Team has had a very busy term. We've been busy listening to what you've got to say and attempting to put those ideas become reality. Our goal is to bridge the gap between students and staff, ensuring that student voices have a direct impact on what happens around here.
One of the most thrilling events was the House Chess Competition. A bunch of students registered to compete, and the atmosphere in the library during the finals was electric. It was fantastic to see so many people get behind it and shout for their Houses!
We've also heard that many students feel unprepared for things like resumes and job interviews. So, we're planning Job Readiness Workshops for next term, focussing on how to produce a strong résumé, ace that interview, and generally feel more secure about entering the job market. We've teamed up with the careers team to ensure that students here at Homestead are ready to enter the workforce whenever they choose to!
We’ve gained feedback and responded with a year 11 fun day in the works so that these busy students have a day to rest and have fun!
And as always, we are here to listen and take action. Have you got an idea? Do you want to get involved? Simply come and talk to us! your voice is what improves Homestead Senior Secondary!

Homestead House Hero Award
Homestead Senior Secondary College is committed to promoting our
House Values through the accomplishments of the young people within our school community. We are introducing a new award called the ‘Homestead House Hero’ which is related to our House Culture and the values of each term. This award has been designed and implemented by our Year 12 Student Leadership Team.
The award aims to build the profile of the young people who are positively contributing to Homestead and our wider community. The selected candidates will serve as role models; an example of those who are exemplifying our values and are setting a high standard for their fellow Homesteaders to follow.
We recently ran a design competition to come up with the badge that will be given to the winning receipients of the award and we are please to announce that Makayla Stonnier was created our winning design shown above.
