Term 2 STEM Racing Progress & Upcoming STEM Incursion
Following our exciting announcement earlier this year, we are pleased to share an update on the progress of our STEM Racing teams and some exciting opportunities on the horizon.
Term 2 Highlights
Over the recent term break, some of our students participated in a STEM extension program at Wyndham Tech School, where they worked on building and refining 3D models using professional CAD software. This hands-on experience allowed students to deepen their understanding of design and engineering principles, and it’s been fantastic to see their enthusiasm grow.
We are also excited to share that our new CNC machine has officially been commissioned at school! This state-of-the-art equipment will allow students to begin manufacturing their F1 cars onsite with improved precision, efficiency, and control. Teams will now have the ability to transition from virtual design to physical production, marking a major step forward in the competition timeline.
Each of our four Professional Class teams has continued to work through their checklist and Gantt chart, which were developed at the beginning of the term to track milestones in areas such as car development, portfolio design, and marketing. Weekly lunchtime sessions have provided students with structured collaboration time, and we’re impressed by the leadership, creativity, and commitment they’ve shown.
Upcoming STEM Incursion – August 4th
We are excited to announce a STEM incursion taking place on August 4th, delivered by the team at AVISTA. This workshop will focus on innovation, sustainability, and design thinking, offering valuable learning that complements the skills being developed through F1 in Schools.
📌 Permission Forms Due: Parent/guardian approval is required and must be submitted by June 30th.🔗 Learn more about the incursion at: https://avista.org.au/school-shows/
Looking Ahead
In the coming weeks, students will begin to model and potentially test their cars, developing verbal presentations, and continue to work on their Enterprise and Engineering Portfolios. As we approach competition season, we’ll continue to keep the community informed through regular updates.
Thank you for your ongoing support as our teams continue their STEM Racing journey. We are incredibly proud of their progress and can’t wait to see how far they go!
🏎️ Stay tuned – the race is on!
