ADVANCE CAMP

On Monday 31st March, 15 students from Year 9-10 travelled to Port Fairy for a two day outdoor education camp which involved an introductory scuba diving session at the Port Fairy pool, a bike ride from Port Fairy to Koroit and back along the rail trail, a second scuba diving session at the beach and a fishing session.  Thanks to Liz Fowler for her support with the camp.

ANZAC DAY

Thank you to all the students, staff and parents who turned out to the ANZAC day march.

Not only must we pay our respects to those who did not return but we also need to show empathy and support to those who return and still suffer the traumatic effects of war either physically or mentally.

VCE & Careers Expo – Melbourne

Last Friday our year 10s, together with the year 11/12 VCE students, attended the VCE & Careers Expo at the Melbourne Convention Centre. The students were able to explore over 80 different stalls including TAFEs, Universities, gap year programs, sports colleges, businesses, VTAC, Interstate Universities and much more.

Despite the early start and the huge number of students there (literally shoulder to shoulder in the first session!), the students showed great courage in navigating the big crowds and finding their way around. The afternoon session was much quieter and a better chance for students to have a go at the interactive displays and talk one-on-one with various stall holders.

A big thanks to Mr Jones and Mr Reichman for coming along, and the students for their exemplary behaviour!

YEAR 9/10 SCIENCE

Year 9 and 10 students wrapped up Term 1 with an exciting bull’s eye dissection. Students had a full term of biology related study, focusing on 2 systems within the human body - reproductive and nervous system.

We explored the many structures of the eye on paper before having a go at finding them in our real life specimen. While many were eager to explore the eye’s structures, some students felt a little squeamish during the hands-on activity! Despite this, the dissection provided a fascinating and memorable end to the term.

Up next, end of topic test in Week 2 followed by a Term of chemistry.
