Curriculum Day - Monday 28th April

Please note that this coming Monday, 28th April, is a Curriculum Day at SKiPPS. This means students are not required to attend school. However, for families needing care, TeamKids will be running a full-day program on-site. Bookings can be made via their website: teamkids.com.au.

On this day, our teaching staff will be collaborating with colleagues from neighbouring schools in a professional development session led by Shane Pearson, the creator of PhOrMeS—the phonics, spelling, and reading program currently being implemented across all our classes. We're already observing positive outcomes from this program, and this session will further enhance our teaching practices to support student learning.

Ride2School Day - postponed

Unfortunately, due to the continuing building works taking place around the school grounds, we’ve made the decision to postpone our Ride to School Day, which was originally planned for tomorrow, Thursday 24th April

While we were looking forward to this fun and active morning, safety is always our top priority, and with work still underway around the bike racks and entrances, we felt it best to hold off for now. We’re already looking ahead to a new date later in the year and will keep families updated as soon as we’ve locked it in—watch this space!

Election Day Sausage Sizzle - help needed

With the Federal election taking place next Saturday (3rd May), we are currently exploring the possibility of running a fundraising sausage sizzle at school on the day to provide that most Australian of traditions the Democracy Sausage

Sadly, many of the members of our fundraising sub-committee are unavailable on the day and so we are keen to hear from any parents who might be able to help out to order and arrange the supplies and then attend on the day to supervise the stall.

If you are free and willing to help, please reach out to Neil on neil.scott@education.vic.gov.au

Celebration of the Arts 2025 - help needed

Even though our annual Celebration of the Arts event isn’t until October, we are already making plans!  If you have skills or experience in any aspect of art display, production or theatre, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for support with staging, sets, props, costumes, event posters, and anything else you may be able to contribute.

Your help would be greatly appreciated in bringing this event to life!

School Swimming 2025

We’re excited to let families know that our school swimming program is locked in for the end of this term, with all students heading to MSAC to take part in five action-packed 45-minute lessons over five days.

Swimming is not only a vital life skill but also a fantastic way for students to build confidence and fitness in a fun and supportive environment.

Our Foundation to Year 3 students will take part in Week 10 (23rd–27th June), while our Year 4–6 students will dive in during the final week of term, Week 11 (30th June–4th July). Further details, including permission forms and costs, will be sent home soon—so keep an eye out! 🏊‍♂️💦

Term 2, 2025 Chicken Sitters

Our four beautiful chickens who live a life of luxury in our amazing chook house (located in the quiet area behind the Kitchen Dining Room) require care throughout term 2. You will be required to check in on the chickens, collect the eggs, top up food and water, remove manure and replace hay. This should take 15 minutes maximum. However, you are welcome to hang out and relax with the chickens if you would like.
