ELC

We are delighted to welcome all our families back to the ELC. The children's laughter and energy have filled our classrooms once again, and we are excited to embark on a new term of exploration and growth together.
Throughout the first weeks, our Early Learning Centre has been filled with joy and creativity as the children eagerly prepared heartfelt gifts for Mother's Day. Their enthusiasm and dedication were evident in every handmade creation, reflecting the love and appreciation they hold for their mothers and special caregivers.
A heartfelt thank you to all the mums and special guests who joined us for our Mother's Day Afternoon Tea’s throughout this week. Your presence made the event truly special. We hope you enjoyed the delightful songs, engaging stories, and, of course, the freshly baked scones prepared with love by our little ones.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to all the families who participated in the Oakleigh Grammar Parents Association Mother's Day Stall. Your involvement not only brought joy to the children as they selected gifts but also contributed to the vibrant community spirit that defines our school.
Wishing all our mothers and special caregivers a joyful and memorable Mother's Day.
Yours in Partnership,

Bluebell
ANZAC Day Celebrations
The Bluebell class spent the day reflecting on the significance of ANZAC Day through meaningful and engaging experiences. We began with a group discussion, exploring what ANZAC Day means, and then we listening to the story of ANZAC Ted. This story helped bring the values of bravery and remembrance to life in a way that was age appropriate and impactful.
The Bluebell class enjoyed baking ANZAC biscuits. We discussed the historical background of the biscuits—how they were sent to soldiers during the war because they could remain fresh over long journeys. The children thoroughly enjoyed mixing the ingredients and working together as a team to create the biscuits. The children then created their own commemorative wreaths, painting the wreaths green and adding hand drawn poppies and fresh rosemary.
To conclude the day, we shared a picnic with the other Pre Prep classes, enjoying our ANZAC biscuits together. It was a special opportunity for the children to come together, connect, and honour the importance of this National Day of Remembrance.

Waratah
Term 2 Begins: A Journey into Space!
The Waratah children were thrilled to return to Pre-Prep for the beginning of Term 2. They eagerly shared stories of their Easter holiday adventures with friends and teachers, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere in the classroom.
We have launched our new inquiry project for the term, inspired by the children’s curiosity and enthusiasm—the fascinating world of Space! Our classroom now features an exciting space exploration table, complete with a giant rocket, space-themed books, astronaut figures, space rocks, a sensory tray, and various cosmic props. The children have been enthusiastically engaging in dramatic play, imagining themselves as astronauts embarking on thrilling journeys to the moon.
Over the coming weeks, we will continue to explore the mysteries of the solar system. The children will have opportunities to build their own rocket ships, dress up as astronauts, and learn about the different planets through hands-on activities and creative play.
