Senior School

After a bustling start to the term, marked by the celebrations of Orthodox Easter and the excitement of the NSE Games this week, it's now time to buckle down and get serious about academic responsibilities.
Semester Assessments for the Year 10 and SACs for the Year 11 are consistently on the assessment calendar, and it is essential that students manage their time and pause their work and social commitments for the next few weeks and begin to prepare thoroughly. Completing these assessment tasks with diligence will set a solid foundation for the upcoming exams.
For our Years 10 and 11 senior students, the next few weeks is particularly significant as they will soon be preparing for Mid-Semester Examinations. Ensuring that they are prepared by seeking help from their teachers, attending afterschool tutorial classes and revising regularly will set them up for success.
In our pastoral sessions, we have been focusing on equipping students with essential study skills and time management techniques.
These sessions have included:
Study Skills: Learning effective methods for retaining and understanding information.
Time Management: Creating schedules that balance study time with other responsibilities and activities.
Study Planners: Developing personalized study planners to track progress and ensure consistent study habits.
Note-Taking Tips: Techniques for summarizing information effectively and taking efficient notes during classes.
In addition to teaching all students effective study skills we have also sent numerous email reminders about the Elevate Education Parent Webinars.
Recognising the vital role parents play in their children's academic success, Elevate Education is hosting a series of webinars designed to help parents support their students during this challenging period. These webinars provide valuable insights into how parents can assist with study routines, manage stress, and create a conducive learning environment at home.

Term 2 started with our ANZAC Day remembrance assembly. It was pleasing to see so many Senior School students involved in this important event, showing their respect for those who gave their lives for Australia.
Term 2 is scheduled to be a long one and an opportunity for students to finish off their Unit 3 work while also providing an opportunity to put to test their knowledge in Year 10 and Unit 1 with their Midyear Examinations.
Additional to the academic focus this term, many of our students participated in the ANZAC Day commemorational ceremony at Oakleigh RSL, while many others will be travelling interstate to represent Oakleigh Grammar at the National School Events.
It is certainly an exciting time as approximately 50 Senior students embark on their journey to complete against the 6 other nominated Archdiocese schools around Australia when they departed for Perth in Week 3.
To all those involved in the above events, congratulations on your participation and commitment of time to representing the school. Do yourselves proud and do Oakleigh Grammar proud.
