Our Learning

This week, you may have heard your child talking about completing assessments, at school. Skye Primary is in the middle of our assessment cycle for this semester which means over the coming weeks your child will complete several assessments. We are very impressed with the resilience, commitment and growth mindset each student is displaying towards these task. Well done Grade 4s!

Literacy

We are focusing on all things poetry over the next few weeks. Students have been analysing the impact of figurative language in poetry, and the conveyed meaning. They then will utilise figurative language to enhance the imagery in their poems and help the audience create a clear picture in their mind. We will continue our Book Club sessions working on refining these roles.

Maths

We will continue to work on equivalent fractions and time. Our time focus shifts from converting units of time to elapsed time.

Inquiry

The students have enjoyed the experiments into the understanding of erosion. They were geologists this week by investigating the composition of sand in their local area. Next week they will be engaging in an experiment to understand the effects of coastal erosion.

Wellbeing

In Grade 4 our Respectful Relationships program is committed to addressing the critical issue of promoting gender respect. This topic is designed to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster a society free from gender discrimination and violence. We will explore factors that contribute to positive relationships and identify a range of conflict resolution strategies for positive outcomes to problems. We encourage you to engage in conversations with your children on these topics at home. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Celebration of Learning

Last Tuesday we were very lucky to be visited by St John's Ambulance and completed a short first aid session with them. Students learnt how to execute the recovery position using DRSABCD. They were very eager to learn and really enjoyed these sessions. Check out some photos of the 4's in action.
