Planning for 2024

Our staff are beginning the process of creating classes for 2024. It has been positive to see parents communicating with teachers and myself to share things that may enable us to make the best possible choices at class construction time. Please contact us as soon as possible if you have not done so. We begin work on 2024 classes this week.

Music Excursion

Our choir and two bands had a very successful visit to Lalor North Secondary College for the Big Day Out concert where our students presented with confidence under the watchful eye of Mr Stubberfield and Ms Emery. Well done to all of these students. The same students were invited to a follow up sound track recording session at the college who always support our students.

Specialist Workshops

The very popular specialist workshops are back this term. Two additions are the eLearning Minecraft sessions and the new Dance sessions with Sarah Emery. If you have a student looking to extend their skills in an afterschool environment, then please register them as soon as possible. If you have a question, Bu Ladd is overseeing the program and can be contacted via the school office.

Serambi Upgrade

Please take the time to check out our renovated Serambi space behind the school hall. With a new artificial turf surface, the area looks great, is more practical and now provides a great third option as an undercover space for student learning. The blue base has really provided an uplift and the use at recess and lunch has been a highlight.

School Review

The bulk of our school review has been undertaken last week with a number of important people here assisting with the process. The staff and students have done an excellent job conversing with the visitors and allowing them to observe learning as it happens. One highlight has been the student learning goals that your children shared. Please take time to ask your child what their current learning goal is and how that are trying to achieve it.

Resilience

We are currently supporting an increased number of students dealing with challenges at school. Together as a partnership, parents and teachers can work to guide students to safe outcomes. Please be conscious of the dangers involved in removing obstacles from your children’s path and the damage we can do if we try to solve problems too quickly for children. Resilience is a quality that will hold them in good stead in their futures.

Year Three Camp

Last Friday, I visited the Year 3 Camp. We had nearly the entire cohort in attendance and all of the students seemed to enjoy our first ever stay at this camp. The facilities and grounds at Gundiwindi in Silvan were outstanding and the 90 students were definitely having lots of fun while I was there!
