REMINDER: Scholarship opportunities for Year 12s commencing tertiary study in 2024

VTAC Scholarships applications are now closed but Year 12s can still apply to Victorian scholarships offered by other organisations. Either by applying direct to the tertiary institution – you can find a list on the VTAC website here – or the Victorian Department of Education website lists other scholarship opportunities for Year 12s undertaking tertiary study in 2024. And in this Scholarships Guide you will find a range of scholarships offered in Australia for students commencing tertiary study in 2024. Students are encouraged to research these scholarship opportunities to check eligibility and be informed on the application process and deadlines.

RMIT Indigenous Access Program

School leavers guide to a career with Victoria Police

The Victoria Police Recruitment Team are excited to introduce a new student resource, designed specifically to assist school leavers who are interested in pursuing a career as a police officer with Victoria Police. Inside the below ‘Navigating Your Path to a Career with Victoria Police’ document students will find:

  • An introduction to the Police Officer role and the amazing career pathways available 
  • Interactive eligibility and suitability test 
  • Video interviews of some of our police officers, who talk about their policing careers so far
  • Tips and guidelines on how to navigate the application process.

Although police make up most of the Victoria Police workforce, there are other opportunities available to people who want to work with us. Students could have a successful career as a Protective Services Officer, Police Custody Officer, or public service employee. Over time, they may decide to go from one role to another – there’s no limit to what they can achieve at Victoria Police!

 

Health humanities at Monash Arts

The Arts faculty at Monash University have put together an exciting Speaker Series for students interested in a career in health to explore how the humanities enhance our understanding of medicine and health, and the social context that shapes the experience of illness and wellness. La Trobe Year 12 online Hub

Students can visit La Trobe’s Year 12 Hub to find out everything they need to know about course options and pathways, the application process and changing preferences. They can also use the Hub to explore all La Trobe’s courses, as well as student testimonials and more. Year 12 students interested in studying at La Trobe are encouraged to explore the Year 12 Online Hub.

Gap years

Deferring future study is a big decision and taking a year off after Year 12 may not be suitable or realistic for many students. However, students planning a gap year before commencing post-school education can make it productive for their career.
