Special Guest Speaker -
Julian Hill MP
On the Thursday 12 October, all students in the Year 10 cohort attended a lecture from guest speaker, Julian Hill who is a federal member of parliament. Unlike most guest speakers, he hosted a very open-ended discussion often drawing on students to ask him questions and participate in the discussion. He had the goal finding out what the opinions of young people in preparation for his upcoming speech to the federal parliament, and the Year 10 cohort provided a great opportunity for him to gain some opinions.
The discussion with Julian Hill was also extremely insightful, in a school where most students favour STEM careers, having a politician come to provide a different outlook gave an incredibly intriguing yet informative session. Throughout the hour, he confuted some of the common stereotypes that are associated with politicians, while reiterating his belief that the future of the country is in good hands. Thank you Mr Julian Hill for coming and giving us an invaluable hour in your busy schedule!
