State Athletics Championships

 

Well done to Regan Smart, Zoe Medley, Phoebe Robb and Jemma Howat who competed at the State Track and Field Championships last Wednesday at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne. Regan made it to finals in the 100m and 200m and  the four girls made it to finals in the 4 x100m Relay.

 

 

Colac Division T20 Cricket

Well done to all the students who competed in the Colac Division T20 Cricket last Friday at the Central Reserve.  A big thank you to Dylan Slater, Kylie Horner, Sam McCarthy and Archie Millar for their help on the day. Two of our teams were the winners on the day and will now compete at the Greater Western Region T-20 Cricket Championships on Wednesday 15th November. This will take place at the C E Brown Reserve in Ballarat. Children will travel by bus to this event.

Foundation – 4 Activity Day

Each year our students from Years F – 4 participate in the Activity Day. Each year level travels to a different school to actively engage in a variety of different sporting activities. This year Foundation’s will go to Colac West, Year 1’s  to Elliminyt PS, Year 2’s  to St Mary’s PS, Year 3’s to Colac PS and our Year 4’s will remain at Sacred Heart PS. This will take place between recess and lunch. More information will be sent home via Pam closer to the event.

 

Colac Division Hot Shots

Congratulations to our students who were the winners of the Colac Division Hots Shots Tennis Event last term. These students have now qualified for the State Hot Shots Tennis Championships on Tuesday 21st November at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club in Melbourne. Students will travel by bus to this event.

Year 5 and 6 Swimming Lessons

The Year 5 and 6 swimming program takes place in Term 4 at Bluewater. This is part of the school curriculum, so it is important that all the students support this program. The dates for swimming are as follows:

Tuesday 5th December – 11:30am – 1:00pm

Wednesday 6th December - 11:30am – 1:00pm

Thursday 7th December - 11:30am – 1:00pm

Friday 8th December - 11:30am – 1:00pm

Wednesday 13th December - 11:30am – 1:00pm

Name: Chase Hickey (Yr 4SF)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is football because it is fun and I get to play with my friends.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was my first game of Under 14’s football when I was only 8 years old.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in sport are my speed and my power.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I like playing in a team.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Marcus Bontempelli for Western Bulldogs. Why are they your favourite? The ‘Bont’ is my favourite player because he is a great captain and midfielder and he can read the play really well.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Western Bulldogs are my favourite football team.

 

Name: Emma Laurie (Yr 5. RO)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Netball is my favourite sport because it reallys healps with my moving skills and being able to defend players.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was when I helped my team get a goal in the Grandfinal.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in sport is that I am so small that I can dodge and duck under people’s ankles.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I love playing with other people and I like to have ‘a go’ at different sports.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Alexis Perkins is my favourite sports person. Why are they your favourite? Alexis is my favourite because when I play basketball with her, she is very good at involving everyone on the team. She is a very good sport.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Collingwood

 

Name: Livi Harris (Yr 6LG)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport to play is netball because I enjoy playing the game and I am good at it.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was when I won a trophy for the first year I played at Colac Imperials.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? The skills that I have that make me a good athlete is my speed and I am a good defender.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sports because it is good for my fitness. Playing sport is fun and makes me happy because I am with my friends.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Tessah my sister is my favourite sports person. Why are they your favourite? She is my favourite sports person because she inspires me and helps me to get better with my netball skills.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Vixens Netball Team.
