From the Principal

What a bright and sunny Melbourne Cup Celebration at Athol Road PS on Monday 6th November!

Thank you to all the staff, students and parents for their enthusiasm and positive energy.

The Fashions on the Field was filled with both glamour and creativity and I did not envy the judges who had the difficult job in selecting the winners in each category.

Thank you to all the judges on the panel. Staff Judges: Mrs Harkness and Mrs Gathercole

Student Judges: Minh and Jessica and our Parent Judges: Linh Duong and Giang Vo.

I strongly believe we were all winners! The participation of everyone and the sense of community on the day was really special.

We were very lucky to have such good weather and the outdoor races in the afternoon were not only super fun but also highly competitive – especially the parents!

I was super impressed with the speed and sophisticated running style of the parent relay race. Hats off to the parents - you all can definitely outrun your children!!

Check out our wonderful photos on page 3.

A reminder that school concert tickets have gone on sale. A concert notice has gone home to all families with the important details. As outlined in the notice, we are only able to sell two tickets per family, however, if tickets are still available after Monday 27th November, families will have a chance to purchase extra tickets. The tickets have been selling fast, so to avoid disappointment, please purchase your tickets as soon as possible. Extra tickets will be announced on Sentral if there is availability.

Yesterday you would have seen my notice to families on Sentral about students leaving the school grounds before school.

Yesterday, I was informed by the crossing supervisor that a few students are going to the shops across the road after they have entered the school grounds in the morning.

Students are not allowed to leave the school grounds once they have arrived at school in the morning.

Please reinforce this message with your children.

Students should not be coming to school early unless they are going to Breakfast Club.

Students not going to Breakfast Club should be arriving to school between 8.45am and 8.55am.

Teacher supervision/before school duty begins at 8.45am.

A quote to remember:

“I think probably kindness is my number one attribute in a human being. I’ll put it before any of the things like courage or bravery or generosity or anything else.”Roald Dahl.
