Principal's Report

PEP HUNGERFORD

‟ However true it may be that we have estranged ourselves from Nature, it is nonetheless true that we feel we are in her and belong to her. It can be only her own working which pulsates also in us. We must find the way back to her again.”

- Rudolf Steiner

This fortnight has been all about the rain!  Muddy puddles, river adventures and the cool relief that rain brings with it.   It is at times when nature moves into her ‘extremes’ that we wake up and really notice her.  Our school aims to help young people develop such a depth of connection to their environment that the daily subtleties speak to them as clearly as these big events.

Steiner Education places a deep emphasis on developing the child’s connection to nature through direct sensory experience.  Time outdoors is essential and students are encouraged to engage through gardening, bushwalking and free and guided play and exploration of the natural environment (including fun in mud puddles!).  The observation of the seasonal rhythms is intrinsically woven through our curriculum.  Nature is viewed as a living teacher, that offers lessons in interdependence and beauty and through contact with the natural environment children cultivate wonder, responsibility and ecological awareness.

🅿️ Car Park Safety Reminder

🎒 Use your head — stay on the red!

🚫 Don’t go astray — don’t walk on the grey!

(For new families: “red” refers to the red-coloured paths.)

🚶‍♀️ Walk only on the red paths — please don’t walk or run across the middle of the car park.

👀 Use the paths provided, even when you don’t have your children with you. It can be difficult for drivers to see pedestrians while reversing.

🌟 Set a great example for all students by following the rules.

⚠️ PLEASE SLOW DOWN — car park speed limit is WALKING PACE ONLY!

Do NOT leave your vehicle running.
