Out and About the School

New Morning Routine at St Xavier's

We are blessed to have such wonderful families supporting us as we work alongside each other to ensure every child feels safe, valued, cared for and respected.

I am very proud of the staff teams we have in place in 2026. Key to the success of each team is the communication and planning that goes into every day being the best we can offer to our students. Staff regularly co-plan, co-teach, co-debrief and co-reflect. This powerful cycle builds the capacity of the adults and this of course helps improve student outcomes.

Each morning before school staff teams will be involved in the following activities just to name a few;

  • Parents calls or emails
  • Lesson preparation
  • Resource preparation
  • Parent meetings
  • Staff meetings
  • Program evaluations
  • Data discussions
  • Student progress discussions
  • Student wellbeing discussions

The time slot between 8am and 8.30am needs to be protected so staff can attend to all of the above and be ready to start the day when the class bell goes. This means we have had to make some changes to drop off in the mornings.

The changes are as follows;

  • The doors to the building will now open at 8.30am.
  • On arrival students are to go straight to their sitting area on the verandah when they arrive in the morning. This is where goodbyes can be said. They will sit with their friends and their bags until playtime at 8.30am.
  • If a parent needs to get a message to the teachers this can be done via the office. If it is of a sensitive nature, or urgent, the teachers will be called to talk with the parent.
  • Members of the Leadership Team are on hand to monitor the new arrangement.

Teachers are very happy to receive emails keeping them in the loop about any concerns or arrangements. ALL PARENTS are encouraged to find a time to catch up with their children’s teachers throughout the year. You do not need to have a concern to catch up!

We pride ourselves on our communication and providing a welcoming atmosphere and we receive great feedback about this. We want this to continue as we implement the new changes. Any student who is having difficulty separating from their parent will be supported  to help say goodbye.

The new arrangement will begin next Monday 16th February. We understand Kindergarten are still settling in and will be mindful of their needs.

Please remember our gate opens at 8am and no student should arrive before 8am for their own safety.

2026 Student Leadership

Last Monday, our school community gathered for a special assembly to officially induct our 2026 Student Leaders. It was a momentous occasion as these students stepped forward to accept their leadership badges and commit to serving our school throughout the coming year.

The morning was made even more special by the presence of so many parents and family members.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact these students will have as they lead by example, foster school spirit, and act as voices for their peers.

School Hats

School hats are available to purchase from the school office and Lowes. They are $25.00 each. Please ensure your child has their hat each day and it is labelled with their name.

Medication Alert

A reminder to parents that ALL medication should be handed into the office, it must not be kept in your child's bag. Any medication must be provided in it's original packaging with written (or emailed) instructions for administration.

All new or updated Medical Plans must be shared with our Office. It is a legal requirement that we have the most recent plan in place. This is of course for the safety and well being of our students.
