Wellbeing & Learning Diversity

As we begin a new school year filled with opportunities for growth and learning, we recognise that a positive and supportive environment is essential for both academic success and personal development. Our educators have been busy creating welcoming spaces where children feel safe, nurtured and valued.
The Berry Street Education Model and its core values are well underway at St Gabriel's. This term, our focus is on supporting children to continue developing their growth mindset, stamina and resilience, while also prioritising fun, joy and positive relationships. Strong relationships remain at the heart of our work, as they are key to helping children feel connected, confident and ready to learn.
Building Healthy Routines for Primary School Success
As children begin their primary school journey, establishing strong routines at home plays an important role in supporting their success at school. One of the most important routines to develop is a consistent sleep routine.
Young children thrive on predictability. Regular bedtimes help children wake feeling refreshed and ready to engage in learning. Families can support this by creating a calm pre-bedtime routine, such as reading a story or having a warm bath, and by ensuring children have a comfortable, tech-free sleep environment. Children typically benefit from 10–12 hours of sleep each night, which supports both their physical development and learning.
By prioritising healthy routines at home, families help children adjust to school expectations and build strong foundations for lifelong learning.
