Careers Corner

For the first three weeks of the year, Year 12 students are required to attend a Goal Setting meeting with a careers staff member to discuss their goals and possible career pathway options. Last year’s Year 12 students responded well to the interviews, and we found that many of them were then eager to make careers appointments to find out more about the career possibilities available to them.
We look forward to a year filled with opportunities for students at Davisson Street Campus to explore the world of work. Pathways to employment may include vocational education, which offers more hands-on and practical learning experiences. Students may also have the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while still at school, before progressing to TAFE, a traineeship, an apprenticeship, or direct employment.
An alternative pathway to employment may be an academic route, which typically involves university study to gain the qualifications required for entry into specific professions. As tertiary entry requirements are often subject to change, it is important for students to stay informed and up to date with the latest information.
Students are encouraged to attend seminars, workshops, information sessions, university events, and careers appointments to ensure they are accessing accurate and relevant information to support informed decision-making. Many of these opportunities to explore and gather information will be made available to students throughout 2026.
Be sure to access the Careers Newsletter each fortnight. Do not miss out on all the advertised part time job opportunities, the STEM corner, the ‘job spotlight’, university updates, upcoming events information, etc.
