On Tuesday 24 February, the Primary (and secondary combined) Zone Swimming Carnival was held at Nowra Aquatic Centre.
We were joined by the usual 5 other schools from our zone, who travelled from as far afield as Cooma! As well as those schools, we welcomed a new school to our zone for their first ever carnival with us, Shellharbour Anglican College. They certainly brought their 'A Game' as they took out both the primary and high school carnivals. Their presence meant fewer ribbons and therefore less places in the state team to go around than usual. However it did increase the level of competition.
NCS's primary department fought hard in the water during every race against some talented opposition. After narrowly missing out with several fourth place finishes, Codie M finally 'broke our duck' and secured a top three finish for Team NCS, thus making the state team for Thursday 6 March at Homebush in Sydney.
Our team total for the day was 79 points, only one away from Southern Highlands C.S. who were on 80 points. So we had to be content with a 6th place finish this year.
Parents, carers and teachers alike were so proud of the NCS children as they swam many personal and season best times. Mila J, Jordan S, Eden G, Grace S, Eden H, Zac C, Codie M, Tommy K, Harry S and Elijah JC all swam faster compared to their school times in 50m Freestyle. Lachy B managed to smash his backstroke time at school by almost 13 seconds for one of our fourth place finishes. Codie M managed to smash his school backstroke time by an impressive 6 seconds for his third place finish. Madi K bettered her school breastroke time by an amazing 4 seconds.
So, some very talented swimmers gave it their all and had an amazing day. All twenty-eight of them were delightful to have around the pool deck, cheering on one another and helping out by replacing people in races where needed.
HUGE THANKS to our NCS parents and carers for coming along to cheer on your children and our wider team. It was great to see you there and chat with many of you. We pray that Codie M has an amazing experience at this year's primary state swimming carnival on 6 March. We also look forward to another great year of sporting endeavour as we move to cross country running next. See you all out on the track!

Last Friday, our current Year 6 students and 20 prospective students stepped into the world of Secondary for a day at the Year 7 Taste 'n' See Day.
From exciting activities to memorable moments, it was a day filled with fun and exploration. In English, students unleashed their creativity with search and destroy poetry, while in Science, they got hands-on making lava lamps that bubbled with excitement! In music they made lots of noise as an emotional orchestra but the highlight of the day for most was trying out their woodworking skills, burning their names into a plaque to take home.
A big shoutout to all the parents who joined us for morning tea and lunch. We hope everyone had a fantastic time and got a taste of the incredible experiences awaiting them in Year 7. Thank you to the staff who went above and beyond to prepare the engaging activities for the day.
Year 6 parents/carers and students, please don't forget to join us for the Year 7 Information Evening on Monday 9 March at 5.30-6.40pm in the Church Hall.

On Friday 20 February we held our Family Twilight Picnic and it was the biggest and best yet with over 700 staff, students and families attending. It was wonderful to see so many families connecting to enjoy the food, music, and entertainment.
