Message from the 

Principal

Dear Families,

 

As we approach the end of Term 3, I would like to congratulate all of our students on a fantastic term. The learning growth and achievements we are seeing across the school 

is exciting and place our students in an excellent position to finish the year strongly in Term 4.

 

I would also like to acknowledge and congratulate our staff. Their commitment to continuous improvement, professional learning, and providing the very best opportunities for our students is exceptional. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated staff who strive to make a positive difference in the lives of our children.

 

Finally, thank you to all of our families for your ongoing support and trust. Your partnership is invaluable in helping us provide a safe, positive, and enriching learning environment where every child can thrive.

 

I will be taking two weeks of Long Service Leave during Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 4. During this time, I leave the school in the very capable hands of Brent Anstee, who will be supported by Josh Smith, Gabby Walsh, and Marica Arnold.

I wish all of our students, staff, and families a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday break.

Congratulations & Good Luck

Well done to all the St T's students and staff who have participated in sporting finals over the past few weeks. To those who are still competing and working towards a premiership, good luck. We wish you every success and all the very best!

 

2027 Planning

Class Considerations for 2027

During Term 4, our teachers will begin the important task of placing students into their classes for 2027.

At St Therese’s, we believe:

  • Education involves the development of the whole person — spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and emotionally.
  • A relevant, balanced and challenging education provides a strong foundation for inspiration and long-term success.
  • Learning together means being inclusive — welcoming and respectful of all.
  • The creation of class groups should be balanced, fair and equitable.

Our Class Placement Process:

  1. Current teachers create an initial draft for student placement.
  2. The leadership team reviews class allocations, ensuring equity across students’ social, emotional, physical and academic needs.
  3. Teachers then review any changes made.
  4. Final class lists are shared with families on Orientation Day.

Please note: These lists are final unless there is evidence of an oversight.

If you believe there are circumstances we should be aware of when placing your child, please email principal@stkennington.catholic.edu.au by 4:00 pm on Friday, 16th October.

 

Also, if your child will not be returning to St Therese’s in 2027, please inform the office as soon as possible.

 

Reminder:

It is time for hats!  Please ensure your child has a hat that is clearly named.

Secondhand Uniforms

If you have any school uniforms you no longer need, we would be so grateful if you could donate them to school. The demand is growing. 

 

School Hours (Repeat)

Please note that the schoolyard is unsupervised before 8:30 am. There are still many children on the grounds prior to this time and there is no teacher on duty.  

For the safety of your children, I ask that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30am.

 

Mobile Phone and Smartwatch Reminder (Repeat)

A reminder to families that all ‘smart’ devices, including mobile phones and smartwatches, must be handed to teachers first thing in the morning when students arrive at school. These devices are then securely stored for the duration of the school day and returned to students at dismissal time.

This practice supports a focused learning environment and aligns with our school and diocesan policies. We appreciate your ongoing support in reinforcing this expectation with your children.
