From the Principal

Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

Swimming Carnival

We had wonderful weather for our swimming carnival this week. A big congratulations to all the students who participated and to the staff for putting the event together. Well done to Montessori House for winning this year's title!

Year 12 Retreat

Our Year 12 retreat was held in Healesville last week. This retreat provided students with an opportunity for reflection and personal growth as they prepare for the important months ahead. Additionally, it fostered camaraderie and strengthened the bonds within the Year 12 cohort. I would like to congratulate the students on their engagement and attitude they displayed during the retreat. I would like to thank Elizabeth Holligan for coordinating the camp and to the staff members who dedicated their time away from home and family.

Apology Breakfast

Last week, I, along with Leonie Scott (Koori Education Worker) and several students, attended the Shepparton National Apology Breakfast, held on the anniversary of former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's apology to First Nations people. This significant event brought together local schools and community groups. Thank you to the families who supported this important occasion.

Sandhurst Leaders Gathering

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Sandhurst Leadership gathering alongside Sandhurst Principals, Priests, and CESL Leaders. As a newly appointed Principal, I was commissioned by Bishop Shane, along with 15 other Principals, during a Mass at the Cathedral. This was a significant occasion for me, as Bishop Shane is the third Bishop to commission me in this role, following Bishops Joe and Les.

Curriculum Article

Many of you may be aware that the Melbourne Archdiocese has recently implemented changes to their curriculum, similar to those being introduced at St Anne’s College with Magnify Sandhurst. The following article, published in The Age last week, outlines the positive impact these changes have had in schools: Catholic schools reap the benefits of ‘back to basics’ overhaul.

Grade 6 Family Survey

Today, a survey was distributed to all Grade 6 families via PAM concerning high school and seeking their feedback on which aspects of secondary education are most important to them. Additionally, the Grade 6 students will participate in a student voice survey to share their perspectives on high school. The responses will be taken into account for our Year 7 Information Evening that will be held in the coming weeks.

Parents/Carers and Student Survey

Please be on the lookout in the coming weeks for a Parent/Carer and Student Feedback Survey that will be distributed to families. Your feedback is essential for our school improvement efforts, and I am eager to gather insights from our community as we strive to implement positive changes at St Anne’s College. The responses will be reviewed by the St Anne’s Advisory Council and will significantly influence the college’s future direction.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
