Kambrya Debaters Kick Off 2025 Season with Strong Results!
The 2025 Interschool Debating Competition season launched on Thursday, 27th February, marking Kambrya’s biggest year yet in the Schools Competition, with seven teams competing across Years 9-12. Our students showcased their talent, resilience, and teamwork in an impressive Round 1 performance!
D Grade (Year 9)
A huge congratulations to Kambrya 1 and Kambrya 2, both securing victories in their first debates!
- Kambrya 1 (Athena Lam, Navya Bahl, Varshana Venkatesan) defeated Casey Grammar 1 by 4 points, with Varshana earning Best Speaker with an outstanding score of 77.
- Kambrya 2 (Nasima Ahmadi, Angeline Varghese, Daniya Hashmey) edged out Gippsland Grammar 3 by 1 point, with Nasima and Angeline sharing Best Speaker honors at 75.
- Kambrya 3 (David Page, Uzair Salman, Vansh Patel) put up a strong fight against Haileybury 2, with all three speakers scoring a solid 74 and receiving fantastic feedback on their Manner.
C Grade (Year 10)
A remarkable effort from our C Grade teams, who navigated last-minute changes like champions. Wishing Veda a speedy recovery!
- Kambrya 2 (Ella Corner, Momina Fatima, Devika Anand) secured a 2-point victory over St Francis Xavier Beaconsfield 2, with Devika taking Best Speaker with 76 points.
- Kambrya 1 (Akeesa Agampodi, Rushaan Saiyed, Minahil Zaidi) put up a valiant fight but fell just 1 point short against St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar 2. Special shoutout to Rushaan, who stepped in at the last minute and made a huge impact—MVP of the round!
B Grade (Year 11)
An exceptional performance from Kambrya 1 (Lilyana Stipkovic, Minahil Zaidi, Prahalpa Suresh), who defeated Casey Grammar 1 by a commanding 8 points! Minahil Zaidi earned Best Speaker with a score of 76.
A Grade (Year 12)
A stellar performance from our senior team! Kambrya 1 (Aish Anand, Prahalpa Suresh, Jesse Barnett) overcame Nossal HS 3 with a 4-point victory, with Aish Anand earning Best Speaker with 77 points.
