Sustainability & Garden Club

I was so proud to accompany our four Sustainability Captains and Vice Captains to attend the CERES Student Leadership Summit on Tuesday. Their passion, knowledge, and motivation was an inspiration to all of us. Prior to attending, the students completed audits of our school, looking at Waste, Energy, Water and Biodiversity. It was great to work alongside other schools and share ideas to help look after our environment. Over the next couple of weeks, they will share some of the highlights during our Friday assemblies. A few short reflections –

Edith It was really cool to see people growing vegetables and picking them to sell. The vegetable gardens looked so beautiful and I loved walking around in them.

Lula I really liked learning to make my own potplant out of newspaper and planting a tiny seed. It will grow into a bush tucker food called Warrigal Greens.

Anderson I loved to see the chickens! I wish we had chickens at Trinity!

Clem The playground was made out of a huge giant centipede. Everything was made out of recycled materials.

Melbourne Girls College - Pedalathon!

MGC have an amazing set of bikes which convert pedal power to electricity! Trinity will send a team of 12 Year 5/6 Trinity students to compete in a relay Pedalathon at Melbourne, Girls’ College, on Thursday 27/2. Students will pedal stationary bikes, to create energy which will be converted and stored in a battery. This battery power will then be used the following evening to power the projector for the MGC community movie night on Friday 28/2.

A question for our Vietnamese families!

The students would like to grow some Vietnamese vegetables. I would like some advice on what would be good to plant and where we could find seeds. If you can help, please email Ms Belinda at bnechwatal@tcs.catholic.edu.au

NUDE FOOD DAY - RETURNS NEXT THURSDAY.

We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf
