Year 7 Camp
Creating Futures Together
Mount Evelyn Recreation Discovery Camp
At the start of the year our Year 7 students attended an Orientation Camp at the Mount Evelyn Discovery Recreation Camp. The camp was an excellent opportunity for students to get to know their peers and teachers. It also built on their existing skills such as co-operation, teamwork, getting along, problem solving and communication. Students enjoyed a natural setting where great food, a positive atmosphere and a range of suitable and engaging activities were provided.
Student Reflections
I loved camp a lot as it helped me get to know other students' names and interests throughout the three days we were there. I loved hanging out with friends in the activity groups and in the cabins because I quite liked talking to them to try and figure out what they like to do or what sport they played outside of school (if they did do a sport)! I absolutely loved the whole environment and being out in nature because it’s so different to where I normally am so it was nice to get a little bit of a change. I also loved how quiet and peaceful it was out in the forest, but I definitely did not like the heat that's for sure! My favourite activity that we did on camp would definitely be the giant swing Because I loved having to let myself go by pulling the rope and also that feeling when you start to drop. It was so much fun and I would most certainly go on camp with the school again in future years!

Camp was a blast for all the year 7s. But for me I liked the giant swing the most out of all the activities. I likes the giant swing because we got to go 20 meters high into the sky and then swing for about 2 minutes. I also like the high roped course, which is an obstacle on ropes that you do in the sky! Another thing that I liked about camp is that I got to make a lot of new friends in my cabin and activity group.

Camp was so fun and enjoyable and definitely one to remember. Some of my favourite parts of year seven camp include the cabins, jumping into the pool on the hottest day, ALL the activates especially the crate stack and raft building, free time with an epic game of Gaga Ball and lots more. Hut building and the giant swing was also two of my favourites, me and my friends had a few failed attempts on getting a sturdy hut but eventually made the best hut and was very water resistant. The giant swing was like no average swing I have been on before. I went as high as I could go and when I reached the top, my heart dropped but it was so thrilling and fun. The food was also delicious and filling. I loved the spaghetti Bolognese and the chicken wraps as well as our choice of rolls before we went home. Overall, year seven camp was absolutely amazing and such a blast and I cant wait to create more lasting memories like this!

Camp was an extraordinary experience that I will never forget. Over 3 days we were challenged with an abundance of adventurous activities, made new friends and met new people in our chaotic cabins and our activity groups. I love food so much that I was very proud of myself when I answered the trivia question right so I could be the first person to get a toast, cereal and bacon breakfast! After the 3 days of jam packed adventure, I was very grateful for a safe bus trip home.
