Disability and Inclusion

The Department of Education is rolling out a new reform for all Victorian schools and VUSC is in its first year of implementation. Parents and guardians can read about this reform here:

https://www.schools.vic.gov.au/disability-inclusion

Our college has a new Disability and Inclusion Team for 2024 who will be working with teachers, parents, and students to ensure we can provide an inclusive education for all.

Who are the team members?

James Dowie - Assistant Principal who will oversee the implementation.

Athena Vass - Disability and Inclusion Team Leader

Sue McFerran, Jenny Kirkcaldy and Suzanne Clark - Disability and Inclusion Team members supporting the reform.

We are also very fortunate to have several Learning Support Staff who will be working in our classrooms supporting our students with their learning. We have currently added 3 more staff to the team and are looking to expand the team in Term 2.

Junior Campus: Arok Duot, Max Thomas, Keryn Stewart, Zip Genc, Samuel Chandler and Vivian Thanh

Senior Campus: Pam Campbell

Parents or guardians who have any mental health, medical, cognitive or speech assessments for their children which may impact their child’s learning can forward them electronically to athena.vass@education.vic.gov.au. The college prefers electronic copies, but if there is an access issue for families, hard copies can be brought into the general office at either campus. Original copies will be immediately scanned and returned to parents. Only relevant information such as learning recommendations from these assessments will be provided to classroom teachers to support student learning and access to the curriculum.

Parents/guardians who have any questions or require further information macontact Athena Vass (Tue, Wed, Fri), Jenny Kirkcaldy (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) or Sue McFerran (Mon and Fri) on 9363 1155.
