Japanese Tour: We're thrilled to share the joy of our recent visit from Japanese university teachers in training. Our students eagerly participated in classroom sessions and cultural demonstrations, fostering curiosity and understanding. This exchange exemplified the spirit of global citizenship and mutual respect by sharing and understanding connections to culture.
None of this would have been possible without our incredible host families. We extend heartfelt gratitude for opening your homes and providing a warm welcome to our guests. Another big thank you to Lisa Evans and Jack Wilmott for their coordination of this event at BBPS. We are so grateful to them for all their assistance with the planning and the outcomes of this trial partnership between the Nakamura Gakuen University and teacher training schools in Victoria. BBPS was privileged to be chosen for this trial. Initial feedback from the University is how successful it has been and has set a very high standard for next time.
Well done to our District Swimmers who competed today – more on this in future weeks. We achieved third place and also won the school aggregate. Will Waters in year four also achieved and set a district record, and several of our swimmers have qualified for the next level of competition. Well done to all swimmers and thank you to Mark Coulston and Josh Ancrum for supporting our team.
Excitingly this week we have launched House Points, Students can be awarded House Points for showing our school values, the 6Rs and in particular, demonstrating behaviours that show a commitment to this term's focus on Self Responsiblity for all in 2024
These can be awarded in the classroom, playground and at various events.
The leading house will be announced at assembly, and the winning house for the term will receive recognition by their House Captains (to be decided how by the grade 6 leaders). We are excited to build our school spirit and celebrate our outstanding students.
To our Grade 3 and 5 students, as you prepare for NAPLAN testing next week, we wish you the best of luck! We are proud of you - and know you will try your best. The testing period begins with Writing next Wednesday and Reading on Thursday. Language Conventions and Numeracy will take place the following week.
We look forward to seeing you at our Welcome BBQ on March 15th from 4pm! It's a fantastic opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the spirit of community. Please see the PA section of the newsletter for more, including a link to sign up and help with the BBQ – thank you in advance. We thank the Dreamers and Kyle for helping out ( and recruiting at the same time) Go Dreamers!
