Year 12 Outdoor Education

Rottnest Expedition

In Week 5, the two Year 12 Outdoor Education classes travelled to Rottnest to explore its rich and varied ocean ecosystems. Day One saw the group doing an introductory snorkel at the Basin, a long sought-after break from the school swimming pool floor where the group had been practising their skills. Conditions were near perfect but the group quickly learnt that the ocean was very different to snorkeling in a closed environment.

The second day saw the group snorkel multiple sites including Longreach Bay, Little Parakeet Bay and Little Armstrong Bay. Each snorkel was different in some way and challenged or revealed a little more about the life under the water at Rottnest. Each group member strived to improve on each dive and all have shown tremendous development throughout the expedition.

The final day saw us manage to squeeze in one more quick snorkel in Geordie Bay before a well-deserved bakery treat and a smooth ferry ride home.

Many thanks to Mr Walczak, Mr Peters and Mr Keddie - who received a very late call-up to join us.
