A New Liturgical Season

The vibrant green of Ordinary time when Jesus did all of his good works in showing compassion and love for others fades into the solemn hues of a deep, dark, and sombre purple for Lent. Like the shifting seasons of nature our mornings will become cooler moving into March. Our Catholic liturgical season of Lent is a time for introspection and spiritual renewal. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, ends on Holy Thursday and includes six Sundays. The three pillars of Lent ask us to reflect on our lives and decide which areas to focus on: prayer, penance or going without and almsgiving - giving more to those in need. We can use this time leading up to the Easter triduum for contemplation and transformation. Jesus came to change the world by transforming the human heart in love, one heart at a time.

Prayer

May the feet of God walk with you this Lenten season and

God’s hand holds you safely.

May the eye of God rest on you and

God’s ear hear you cry.

May the smile of God be for you.

May God’s Spirit give you life.

May God’s Love and compassion enfold you.

Gods love bring you home and

May the Spirit of the Lord, Jesus,

Be with you as you journey through Lent

Taking every opportunity to do good works of compassion

In our St. Mary’s community.

Amen

Lots of Opportunities to Connect with Our School Community & Parish

It was wonderful to see so many family members and parishoners supporting our Beginning of the Year Mass, Ash Wednesday Liturgy and coming together in prayer. A big thank you to the Mum's who were able to help with Shrove Tuesday, mixing batters as seen on our school socials. A shout out to Sarah Phillips, Steph Challis, Emma Taylor, Gayle - Nanna to Frank Potter, Bianca Jenkins, our staff Tegan Reid and Jasmine Ryan who lent helping hands with getting the BBQ’s cooking with gas! A community effort to cook our delicious pancakes for everyone to enjoy! We also had plenty of ingredients to use from all of our families and leftover pancakes have been served at St. Mary’s breakfast club. Well done to all!

Project Compassion

Throughout Lent we invite all parents, guardians and our learners to participate in making a positive impact through Caritas’ Project Compassion. A social justice campaign that we can all contribute to making the world a better and more just place for all. Learners will again be able to raise awareness and funds with Caritas K’s as we walk around our Soccer pitch each Friday. Any coin donation accepted. We will begin this Friday the 16th - tomorrow! Caritas K’s will continue each Friday until the end of term. Each classroom at our Ash Wednesday Liturgy was given a project compassion box for their prayer tables, opportunities for learners to contribute when they can. The project compassion boxes will also be present with learners and staff, whilst walking. All parents, guardians, grandparents are warmly welcome to walk in solidarity.
