Grade 2 Report
It’s been an eventful few weeks in Grade 2. Last week we had the first Whole School Event of the year and there were some great activities to remind us about healthy living.
The students seem to be settling well into life in Grade 2 and the senior campus. Our Writing sessions have focused on Information Reports, and we will soon be doing a fun activity where the students get to create a creature and then write about it. In Maths, we have recently moved on to learning more about place value, as well as Measurement topics of mass and capacity, where we have been able to measure various objects in hands-on activities.
Possibly the most fun of all has been our Science unit about how living things grow and change. After learning about the life cycle of plants, students all got to decorate a cup and plant grass seeds inside, hoping that the grass would grow to look like hair on the top of their head.
Two weeks ago we had the Wild Action animal incursion, where students got up-close with a variety of endangered Australian animals. We learned lots of great things about each animal and got to touch or hold them, which is the favourite part for many of us.
