Something that I have learnt at school

Starting school in Foundation is a very busy time. Students must get used to new people, a new rhythm of the day and new expectations. There are also so many new routines to learn. We asked our students what they have learnt so far in their three weeks at school.

These are some of their insights:

  • Sophia: Eating healthy.
  • Levi: Patterns.
  • Ariana: Sharing.
  • Taj: Playing cars with my friend.
  • Ariela: Don’t climb up the slide.
  • Enoch: I am learning to share the race cars.
  • Travis: Side galloping and the cat game.
  • Tawana: I learned about words.
  • Esra: I have learnt to go to Assembly.
  • Narah: We learnt how to pass a ball around. When we get the ball we act what we want to be when we grow up.
  • Athan: I learned that I have to wash clothes when I grow up.
  • Micah: Walking in a straight line so we don’t fall over.
  • Leo: Draw and paint.
  • Cindy: Subitising.
  • Iris: I learnt to count.
  • Evie: Words that rhyme.
  • Jamie: How to be kind.
  • Joel: To sit in my special spot on the carpet.
  • Kaila: Sharing toys.
  • Nicolas: Where our tables are.
  • Sienna: Sharing toys with Finley and Lola.
  • Mary: Mrs Ali taught me a new song, ”When I grow up.”
  • Evan: How to play with the zoo with Aleksandar.
  • Bethany: How to play hide and seek with my friends at recess.
  • Andre: How to clean up the classroom.
  • Mila: How to be kind.
  • Angela: Playing the rainbow game with Mrs Collins.
  • Lola: How to be sensible and really still.
  • Kylian: How to unpack my bag in the morning.
  • Ethan: How to skip with a rope.
  • Toby: How to pack my bag.
  • Bella: Jumping outside.

We are delighted by how our Foundation students have adapted to their new learning environment. They have shown courage and a positive attitude while embracing so many new things.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Foundation families for their trust and ongoing support to ensure that their children transition successfully to ‘big’ school.
