Friendology Workshops: Cultivating Healthy Friendships.
On Wednesday 21 February, students from Years 1-6 at Brooklyn Park and South Plympton had the opportunity to take a deeper dive into Friendoloogy, engaging in a dynamic and interactive workshop designed to highlight the differences between healthy and unhealthy friendships.
Throughout the URSTRONG workshop, the children honed their friendship skills through various activities, including:
These sessions have equipped students with crucial social and emotional skills. They discovered how to gauge their own Friend-o-meter and recognise that their friends have one too! The workshop was both educational and entertaining, fostering interactions that allowed students to practice their newfound skills in real-time.
A heartfelt thanks to Tyson Greenwood for guiding us through the nuances of friendship with humour and wisdom. Your lessons on navigating friendships have not only taught us valuable skills but also brought joy and laughter to our learning journey.
The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year.
These tests will take place between 13 - 21 March. All tests are completed online on student Chromebooks (except for the Year 3 Writing test). Students will complete an online NAPLAN practice test this week to give them an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the digital format.
At Emmaus, we see these tests as an opportunity for our College to evaluate our teaching and learning program against a national and state benchmark. As with all school assessments, we encourage students to try their best at NAPLAN, however, we do not place any extra pressure on our young people during this time.
Any test preparation is for the sake of students becoming comfortable in the testing environment. It is not necessary for your child to do any extra NAPLAN practice at home as this can often place unnecessary additional stress on your child. We believe it is of a greater benefit for our students to focus on their normal schoolwork and continue to have a broad range of interests outside of school.
Thank you for partnering with us in this endeavour. For more information about NAPLAN, please see the attachments below.

Dear Emmaus Families,
We have an important update regarding our canteen menu, effective from Week 7.
Due to the time-consuming nature of preparing ciabatta sandwiches, we regret to inform you that they will no longer be available. We are working diligently to streamline food preparation, ensuring quicker and more efficient service during Junior and Secondary lunchtimes.
Starting from Week 7, we will offer stock-standard options of sandwiches, baguettes, and wraps. For sandwiches, you may choose between white or wholemeal bread. However, please note that customisation options for wraps, baguettes, and sandwiches will no longer be available.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this transition.
Additionally, we would like to remind parents that lunch orders can be placed up to two weeks in advance. To ensure timely and accurate preparation, please carefully select the appropriate lunchtime section for your child—Junior or Secondary. This small but crucial step will help avoid any delays or missed orders.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we strive to enhance our canteen services for the benefit of all students.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
