SHAI BOLTON

Welcome to Term 4!  As FIRE Carriers we all contribute to the newsletter, we love to teach you about Indigenous culture. This term I decided to focus on Shai Bolton an Aboriginal footy player.

Shai Bolton was born on the 8th December 1998 in Katanning, Western Australia. He was raised in Forestdale. Shai is a proud Noongar man. His dad is Darren Bolton, a former Fremantle player.

Shai Bolton is a footy player for the Richmond football club. He debuted in round 9, Saturday, 20th May 2017. They played at Giants stadium, Sydney against  GWS and unfortunately lost by 3 points. Shai is number 29 and plays in the midfield. Shai has played 113 games for the club and has scored 131 goals. He has achieved All-Australian 2022, AFL Mark of the Year 2021 and NAB AFL Rising Star nominee 2019. Shai has played and won 2 grand finals in 2019 and 2020.

Bolton claimed the Yiooken Award for the best player on the ground in 2020, wearing an Indigenous jumper he designed with the help of his family. He also won this year the David Mandie Community Award for encouraging young Aboriginal people to stand up and have their say with first people. Shai Bolton is a great aboriginal leader.
