DATES FOR 2023

Friday 13 October - Polding Athletics Carnival (SOPAC)

GALA DAY

How exciting that we finally made it to a Gala Day....no rain, no snow, no floods, no COVID, just a beautiful sunny day. We had 18 teams with 188 children attending netball and soccer.

Congratulations to the St Nicholas Jets who were winners of the junior soccer day with St Nicholas United as runners up. This game was on par with the Matildas game against France ending with a penalty shoot out at 3:30pm on Friday afternoon. Congratulations to the St Nicholas Swifts netball team who were runners up of the senior netball day.

I have had several emails from coaches and parents commenting on the sportsmanship displayed by St Nicholas students on the day. I have even had an email from the sports coordinator from Mungindi as some of the Mungindi players joined the St Nicholas team for the day. These two boys have already asked if they can join the team again next year.

ST NICHOLAS NETBALL CLUB

Dear Netball Families,

Congratulations to the Year 5/6 Stingers and the Year 6 Mischief Makers who came in third after the preliminary finals on Saturday. To come third with as many as 10 teams per grade is awesome.

The presentation afternoon will be held in Term 4 at school. Details to come. Please email Emma Elliott (eelliott@arm.catholic.edu.au) if you would like to help organise this event.

THOMAS MCDOUGALL

Thomas McDougall from 5M has had swimming success at State Age which was held recently in Sydney.

Thomas won silver in the 200 meter butterfly, a top ten finish in the 50 meter and 100 meter butterfly and 3 fantastic PB's. Congratulations Thomas!

CARTER BROWN

Last year I was invited to attend this year's West Ham Academy tour in London where I have to attend a 5 day camp on the Gold Coast starting on Sunday 17th September. At camp, I will do 4 days of training and skill work and the last day we have games.

On Thursday 21st September my family and I fly out to London. While on tour we get to spend 6 days in London and 4 days in Manchester. The tour consists of training sessions over 7 days, and 2 days of games. While over there we get to watch 4 professional games and tours of the West Ham (Stratford) and Manchester City (Etihad) Stadiums. One day before a training session we have a tour of London.

My family and I are lucky enough to be able to stay an extra couple of days and explore London. Mum and Dad have also promised my siblings and I that they will take us to Paris for a day to see the Eiffel Tower.

I am so excited to have this opportunity and I'm really looking forward to it all.
