SRC Update

The Student Representative Council (SRC) were recently invited to a vibrant and engaging leadership conference at Melbourne Girls College (MGC), which turned out to be a memorable event brimming with insightful speakers, delectable treats, and collaborative brainstorming sessions.

The conference was a unique blend of learning and fun, designed to inspire and motivate the young leaders of tomorrow. The conference started off with a series of motivational speeches delivered by esteemed guest speakers. These speakers, who came from diverse backgrounds and fields, shared their personal stories of resilience and determination.

Their tales were not only inspiring but also served as a reminder for the students to persevere in their leadership roles, no matter the challenges they face. They emphasized the importance of empathy in understanding and connecting with others, a crucial trait for any leader.

In between these enlightening sessions, students were treated to breaks filled with delicious doughnuts. These breaks provided an opportunity for students to socialize and exchange thoughts, fostering new friendships and sparking discussions about improving leadership in their respective schools. It was a sight to behold as students from different schools connected over shared interests and ideas, strengthening the sense of community among them.

The conference also featured expert-led interactive workshops that encouraged students to approach pressing issues with a creative mindset. These workshops were designed to challenge the students, pushing them to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions. The students rose to the occasion, showcasing their problem-solving skills and their ability to work as a team.

A discussion with the leadership captains at MGC highlighted the significant impact their roles had on shaping the school.  The conference has been a great source of inspiration for the SRC. We have begun to implement several ideas, such as hosting a Tetris competition on June 24th and screening movies in various languages in EBS to celebrate cultural diversity. Additionally, we have started on the production of a multilingual video to welcome people to UHS.

We are currently in the process of acquiring new exercise equipment for the school. Also, on the 24th of June we are holding a Volleyball tournament.  Looking ahead to next term, we are hosting Model UN at our school. This event will see students engaging in discussions on a range of topics, representing different countries.
