Bake Sale for an Important Cause

The disastrous landslide in Papua New Guinea, which caused 2000 villagers to pass away, was a deadly landslide that happened a few weeks ago.

In a village in northern Papua New Guinea, a community has set up a traditional mourning house. It is set up around 200 meters from the landslide that buried people alive during the dusk of 24 May, 2024. Despite this horrible event that had occurred, on Thursday the 6th of June, Ms Chetty organized a fun and a VERYYYY delicious way to raise money for this disastrous event. A bake sale!

The quad was filled with hungry students to eat sweets and other treats made by our own Uni High students. Ms Chetty was assisted by some year nines to cook a lot of food but many other students also came forward to give their yummy homemade goodies. There was food ranging from cookies to truffles to brownies. Everything was a HUGE hit - they mostly sold out! Ms Chetty had also made an Indo-Fijian dal which was devoured quite quickly (it had spices and chillies in it too!).

Exactly $1787.35 was raised for this vital issue. We would like to give a shout out to Ms Chetty and all the other students who brought their homemade goodies to help raise awareness and money for the deadliest and most gigantic landslide that occurred in Papua New Guinea.
