2024 State Swimming
On the 27th March, we had 10 UHS swimmers successfully defeat their competitors at the Northern Metropolitan Regional Championships, and make it into states, an incredible achievement. The swimmers competed at the 2024 State Swimming Championship held annually at MSAC in Albert Park on the 19th April.
The following swimmers competed and represented us tremendously at the event:
- Adriano Mariani - Year 7
- Michael Panknin - Year 7
- Richard Parris - Year 7
- Eric Pham - Year 7
- Tiffany Miet - Year 8
- Marco Palmeri - Year 9
- Tyler Miet - Year 10
- Luca Senyard - Year 10
- Daniel Panknin - Year 11
- Gavin Fu - Year 12
Throughout the day, we watched several swimmers give it their all during their races, and watched hundreds of schools across the state battling it out for the first place medal, which included some very close and thrilling races. Some highlights from the UHS team include:
- Tiffany M - 1st in the Women's 12-13 50LC M Backstroke with a time of 33.40
- Mens 12-13 Relay Team - 1st in the Mens 12-13 200LC M Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:04.65
Overall, Uni High placed in the Top 20 schools in Victoria in terms of results, which is an incredible achievement from our team of 10. The spirit and support felt across the pool was unmatched. The pool deck was alive with the sounds of our team cheering each other on, with the collective voices creating a powerful wave of encouragement.
As this was my last ever state swimming championship, I wish every swimmer the best for their future in the pool, and know very well that many of them are capable of receiving that 1st place medal in the upcoming years based on seeing their level of improvement over the years. Can’t wait to see them!
Gavin Fu - Year 12
