Galileo Term 2

This term, the Galileo students have participated in a range of wonderful activities and trails. Here are some comments from Term 2 Galileo students about the MCG Trail, EarthCraft, Tomorrow Man/Woman workshop and recording the Ethics Podcast:

MCG Tour and Museum

The exhibits allowed visitors to engage with the history of cricket and the Melbourne Cricket Ground in a hands-on manner. There were touchscreens, virtual reality experiences, and even interactive games that made learning fun and memorable.

Fatuma Mohammed, Year 9

EarthCraft

Participating in EarthCraft was a wonderful opportunity to learn how politics works and how countries keep peace and connections between each other. Even though the game itself was at North Melbourne Primary School, the activity itself was out of my comfort zone. You had to manage a country without getting advice from the teacher and had to figure out solutions to the problems. This helped build closer connections with other classes and overall, was very entertaining.

Mahika Kulkarni, Year 9

Imagine a game like Risk: Global Domination, only a simulated version and the players were chaotic 14–15-year-olds. EarthCraft is very fun, with many engaging aspects like treaties, diplomacy and trading.

Minh Nguyen, Year 9

Tomorrow Man/Woman Workshop

This term Galileo participated in a workshop called the Tomorrow Woman and that day taught me about how to open up about my feelings and how to appreciate the people in my life. One of the students came in front of everyone and spoke about her personal experiences which inspired me to open up about my feelings more because it can help a lot.

Charlotte Mann, Year 9

Ethics Podcast

The Ethics Podcast gave us an opportunity to discuss issues happening in the world and why it happens. It gave us an opportunity to have our say in how we feel about the situation along with giving reasons to both sides of the situation. We got to record it at the Science Gallery with a proper podcast set-up and editing equipment. It made it feel like a real podcast!
