Kobe Competes with the Peninsula Team at the AFL State Championships

In May Kobe participated in the AFL State Championships, playing some great football and showing fantastic sportsmanship.

Kobe did so well that he took home the Peninsula Coach's Best Player award - a fantastic achievement. Congratulations, Kobe!

Cooper Competes with the Peninsula Team at the Rugby League State Championships

We were excited to hear about Cooper's opportunity to represent Peninsula at the Rugby League State Championships being held at the Gold Coast in June.

Cooper was selected to play for the under-12 team and is the only Mareeba under-12 player to be given this opportunity.

Cooper is a passionate emerging athlete who has been playing for the Mareeba Gladiators for the past 3 years. This is his first opportunity to participate in rep football and Cooper's dream is to one day make the big leagues NRL.  We wish you all the best Cooper and can't wait to hear from you after the competition!

Wheelbarrow Race Team Donation

Recently representatives from our 2023 Wheelbarrow Race Team visited the Mareeba Hospital where they met staff and mums who benefited from last year's donation made to the Mareeba Friends of the Hospital Foundation.

The funds helped to purchase cots for newborns, which will assist mums after a caesarean delivery or difficult birth.

St Stephen's is proud to be able to support the Mareeba Friends of the Hospital Foundation with these fundraising efforts.

Junior and Senior Basketball Gala Days

Our Junior and Senior Basketball Teams recently participated in Basketball Gala Days at Smithfield State High School.

The days were action-packed with the students playing numerous games throughout the comp and enjoying every minute! The boys are to be commended for the hard work they put into preparing for the comp, with many lunchtimes spent training and honing their skills.

Pictured below left is our junior team, with senior team coaches in the back row.

Pictured below right is our senior team. Congratulations to both teams for their efforts!

Our senior team at the competition:

Una Voce Cairns Eisteddfod Success!

Our St Stephen's Choir, Una Voce, experienced fantastic success at the recent Cairns Eisteddfod, coming away with 3 highly commended, 1 third place and 1 second place! In fact, the group placed in every section they performed in!

To achieve these results, the students had to overcome some very tough competition, and we are incredibly proud of their success. A huge 'thank you' to Miss Kitchiner who has supported and guided the students over a number of years.

Dance Group Cairns Eisteddfod Recognition!

In their very first competition, our St Stephen's Dance Group received a Highly Commended award at the Cairns Eisteddfod for their lyrical dance performance.

After a day spent participating in our Athletics Carnival, the students travelled to Cairns for the event where they competed against schools with long-established programs, making their placing even more significant.

Congratulations to the students, and to Miss Petersen who coached and guided the talented group. We can't wait to see what the future holds for our dance group.
