Principal's Report

The GAT on Tuesday was a fairly disruptive day for everyone, with about half of the school blocked off to help keep the noise levels down. Whilst the GAT is not something students can study for, it is still a valuable opportunity for experiencing the pressure of exam conditions.
Thanks to the staff that adapted for the day and kept the usual functions of the school going and to the students that had their routines changed. Our students were exemplary in their behaviour by keeping noise down and being respectful of the senior students sitting this test. This showcased our wonderful school to the visiting school that joined our group from the Outdoor School for the day.
Staffing remains an area of concern for our school, and many others. With the departure of two staff during Semester 1, we have managed to continue running most of our programs, with minimal changes. The largest impact so far has seen the instrumental music program being put on hold.
In addition to this, Le-Anne McCraw requires leave for Semester 2. Again, we are continuing to advertise all vacant positions to replace our staff but are working on back up plans in case the worst case scenario eventuates and we are unable to find staff.
At this stage, there will need to be some changes to the subjects that are being offered for our Middle School students (Years 8 – 10), with some not running as originally planned. This information will be shared with students who will be impacted next week and more information will go home to families at the same time.
Unfortunately, a car was damaged while parked at school this week and the damage appears to have been caused deliberately. The areas where students are allowed during break times will see some changes as a result.
While the damage may have been caused by someone passing through the grounds, if you hear anything, or saw anything suspicious, please let me know.
Friday the 28th of June is the end of Term 2 and the end of Semester 1. School will finish for students at 2.30pm. The end of Semester reports will be available on Compass next Friday afternoon for families to download.
The end of the term has been determined to be the better time to release these reports, as it coincides with the ending of Semester 1 subjects and provides a summary of achievements. While the reports are released just before staff go on holidays, if you have any questions for the teachers about these reports or your child’s progress, please email them directly and they will reply to you when they can.
