Towards the end of Term 2, the senior Art Making and Exhibiting students had an opportunity to attend a lecture and exhibition of Elizabeth Crowley and Ralph Balson. The lecture consisted of our students receiving information about how a gallery runs by specific roles that people have in their everyday work. Students were introduced to the curator who organises the collection of artworks, the exhibition designer who creates the plan for how artworks are on display and the conservator who makes sure that the artworks have the correct lighting and temperature. All three people work as a team and have many more people who support their work when creating an exhibition. This lecture gave our students an opportunity to further enhance the work that they have been learning in class which also supports work for their SAC and end of year exams. I was very proud of our students asking questions when given the opportunity, and this further extended their knowledge and understanding of the art industry.
