Senior School exams

The senior students have been busy preparing for mid-year examinations. Year 10 students completed their first mid-year exams for their five core learning areas during Weeks 6 and 7. The students presented themselves respectfully during this academic period and are congratulated on their conduct.

Feedback will be released to students during their Week 8 and 9 classes, focusing on strengths in knowledge and skills and areas for improvement.

Year 11 and 12 students commenced their mid-year examinations this week. We encourage the students to contact teachers during their class for tutorials before their exam and ensure they focus on their health and wellbeing during this academic period.

Senior students not sitting exams have the wonderful opportunity to complete accreditations in their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and First Aid courses held at the College.

Year 9/10 electives

The conclusion of the first semester rotation of elective courses for Years 9 and 10 is approaching. Students will begin their second rotation of elective courses on Monday 24 July. The courses running for the full academic year will continue their programs.

All Year 8 and 9 students are invited to attend an information evening on Wednesday 3 July to discuss elective opportunities with teachers and hear about the process for selecting their three courses in 2025.

A formal invitation will be emailed to families in Week 9 with the details pertaining to the evening.

Senior School reporting

Senior School students will receive their mid-year reports on Friday 5 July. The Senior School mid-year report is a comprehensive document that informs parents, carers and students of the student’s progress in all learning areas throughout Semester 1.

The Years 7-10 report includes achievement standards, student progress against strands in each course, an A-E rating against the Australian Curriculum rating scale and indicators of the student’s personal and social capabilities in their approaches to learning.

A Year 11-12 student’s report has a result against criteria or units assessed in each course and indicators of the student’s personal and social capabilities in their approaches to learning.

A supporting document will be sent to parents and carers to guide their interpretation of their child’s report on Friday 5 July

Schools Recommendation Program (SRP)

In collaboration with schools, the University of Tasmania (UTAS) has introduced a Schools Recommendation Program (SRP) to support Year 12 students with university entrance. The SRP allows students to apply early for a range of exciting, diverse courses. It also means that students may receive their offer much earlier in the year. The process includes the student completing an application directly with UTAS, for up to five courses.

The College strongly encourages our Year 12 cohort to attend one of the two SRP application sessions with a representative from UTAS, listed below.

Session 1: Friday 28 June

10.30am – 11.30am

Session 2: Wednesday 3 July

2.30pm – 3.30pm

The SRP is a fantastic opportunity where the College can advocate for acceptance into chosen courses at UTAS. Year 12 students and families are encouraged to keep the below timeline in mind and can read more on the UTAS SRP page.
