NAIDOC Week 10

We are delighted to reflect on the vibrant and enriching NAIDOC Week celebrations held at Glen Innes High. From July 3rd to July 5th, we came together to honor and celebrate the cultures, histories, and achievements of Australia's First Nations peoples. Photo's will be included in issue 1, term 3!

 

Key Events Recap:

1. NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony and Elders Morning Tea

On Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, we gathered for a moving NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony. This symbolic event was a testament to our respect for the deep connection First Nations people hold with Country. Following the ceremony, we enjoyed a delightful morning tea with esteemed elders, accompanied by a traditional NAIDOC Cake.

 

2. Wear Your Colours Day and Cultural Activities

Thursday was a day of lively activities and connections. Students and staff proudly wore their colours as a show of solidarity and respect. Throughout the day, we engaged in spirited relays and events like the Tag-o-War and enjoyed a delicious sausage sizzle. The day culminated in a round-robin CLaN competition, fostering camaraderie and teamwork among participants.

 

3. Aboriginal-Influenced Themed Concert

On Friday afternoon, the school was treated to a mesmerizing Aboriginal-influenced themed concert from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. The performances showcased the rich cultural heritage and talents of our students, celebrating diversity and unity.

 

Community Involvement and Reflection

NAIDOC Week 2024 was a testament to the spirit of unity and learning at Glen Innes High.
