As we reflect on another productive term at GIHS, I am delighted to share with you some of the standout activities and achievements that have marked our journey over the past few months.

NAIDOC Week Celebrations:

NAIDOC Week was a time of profound learning and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Our school came together in unity to honor the rich heritage of Australia's First Nations peoples through a series of engaging activities, including a flag raising ceremony, cultural workshops, and a captivating Aboriginal-themed concert. These events not only enriched our understanding but also strengthened our commitment to reconciliation and cultural diversity.

Spirit of Participation:

Throughout the term, our students have demonstrated exceptional school spirit and dedication. Whether in academic pursuits, sports competitions, or cultural events, they have represented GIHS with pride and enthusiasm. Their achievements reflect their hard work and the supportive community ethos that defines our school.

Work Placement and White Card Courses:

We are proud of our students who completed work placements and white card courses this term. These experiences provided invaluable hands-on learning opportunities and equipped our students with practical skills and knowledge for their future endeavors. We commend them for their commitment to personal growth and development.

Grand Piano  in Old Hall:

A highlight this term was the unveiling of the grand piano in our old hall, made possible through the generous contributions of our Parent and Community Committee (PNC). This addition enhances our cultural and artistic offerings, providing a beautiful centerpiece for musical performances and events. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the PNC for their ongoing support and dedication to enriching our school community.

Willows Cultural Burn:

The Willows Cultural Burn was a significant event that underscored our commitment to environmental stewardship and cultural understanding. It was a privilege for our students to witness and participate in this traditional practice, learning about the important cultural and ecological significance of such ceremonies.

I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic students for making this term a resounding success. Together, we have embraced opportunities for growth, learning, and community engagement. As we look forward to the remainder of the academic year, let us continue to nurture a positive learning environment where every student can thrive.
