        Lesson Plan: Respecting People’s Differences

Step 1: List Learning Intentions and Success Criteria

We are learning to: be respectful of everyone, even if they are different to me. 

It will look like students:

Learning about what other people like, how they think and learn 

Speaking respectfully to people even if I don’t share the same ideas as them 

Step 2:  List a rationale for teaching the behaviour 

Why is it important?

Showing respect to everyone, no matter the differences is essential for a thriving and cohesive society. Teaching children about how we all think, learn and do things differently from a young age is important work. 

Step 3:  Identify examples and non-examples of the desired behaviour What would the behaviour look/sound like?

Sharing information about me with my class 

Listening to classmates share information about them to help me better understand them 

Being respectful of how others are different to me and have different needs
