Learning Space 2 Seniors

Exploring Explanation Reports!

The Seniors in Learning Space 2 have been busy diving into the fascinating world of Explanation Reports.

We've explored intriguing topics such as:

"How Do Solar Panels Work?",

"How Does The Water Cycle Work?",

"How Does a Battery Work?", and

"How Are Tsunamis Formed?".

Our focus has been on composing well-structured explanation texts supported by three pieces of evidence. Students have embraced the challenge of using technical words effectively, planning the layout of their infographics in different ways, and organising their infographics from top to bottom depending on the purpose.

They have also honed their skills in evaluating the best layout based on the direction of text and images, as well as font and color choices.

The process has been both educational and enjoyable, with students enthusiastically creating infographics that beautifully match their explanation topics.

This year we have once again organised Lifesaving Victoria to deliver the ‘Resuscitate a Mate Program’ for the Grade 5/6 students. Life Saving Victoria’s Multicultural Resuscitate a Mate program is designed to introduce participants to emergency response management (DRSABCD). In the 1 hour interactive session, participants learn the steps to follow in an emergency situation and the skills to potentially save a life. This program is delivered by a trained Lifeguard.

The program will be delivered on Friday June 21st and will build on what the students have already learnt in their St John’s First Aid session.

Students may wear their sports uniform and we ask parents to please acknowledge the notification sent out via Operoo.
