Sports Coordinator
As we reach the midpoint of Term 3, it's a great time to reflect on the outstanding sporting events and achievements that have taken place so far. Our students have shown incredible dedication, sportsmanship, and resilience across various competitions. Here are some of the highlights so far!
Girls School Netball Championships
Last Friday, our girls teams from Years 5 to 9 travelled to Bendigo to compete in the School Netball Championships. It was a full day of netball, and all our teams represented the College with pride and determination. Special congratulations to our Primary girls team, who won their division and will now progress to the Finals Day at the State Netball Centre later in August. The teams success is a testament to the hard work and many lunchtimes spent training and improving their skills. Well done to all involved.
Youth Girls Football Stars
Our secondary students, Chloe D’Elia and Brielle Eldridge (Hibberd)also shone in the Youth Girls Football Grand Final, representing Shepparton United last weekend. Chloe was a standout in the game, kicking two goals for her team. Despite not securing the win, the girls put in a fantastic effort, and their dedication is commendable. Great job, girls!
Jarrah's Selection for the Murray Bushrangers
We are thrilled to announce that Year 11student, Jarrah Younger, has been picked up mid-season by the Under 18’s Murray Bushrangers team. His hard work, effort, and impressive match-day performances caught the attention of the Under 18’s Coach, who invited him to train with the Bushies during the school holidays. Jarrah's efforts impressed so well that they invited him to remain within the squad for the remainder of the season as a bottom-age player. Jarrah's journey demonstrates significant resilience and strength of character. Congratulations Jarrah
Goulburn Murray Junior League Finals
Best of luck to all of our students playing in the start of the Finals in the Goulburn Murray Football Netball League this Sunday. The St. Mary's 11 and Under netball include many of our students as well as many others representing other clubs within the league. We wish all our students the best and encourage them to share their successes with myself or their teacher for the next Marian publication.
Term 3 Secondary Students Round Robin
A reminder that the Round Robin for secondary students is coming up on Monday, 19th August. This event will include Dodgeball, Table Tennis, and Basketball. Students are reminded to complete their forms to participate in this exciting day.
Benalla School Clay Shooting Championships
Looking ahead, the Benalla School Clay Shooting Championships will take place in October. Any students interested in participating should email Miss Aldous for more information.
The term continues to be packed with more athletics events, Hume region days, and lots of sport in the yard during recess and lunchtime. It's fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and participation from our students. Thank you to all the students, parents, and staff for your ongoing support and commitment to our sports program. Let's continue to strive for excellence and enjoy the many opportunities that lie ahead.
