K/1 listened to the text 'The Doorbell Rang' by Pat Hutchins last Thursday when looking at the concept of division. In the book, each ring of the doorbell brings more friends to share the delicious cookies Ma has made.

K/1 worked in groups to divide up 12 cookies between different amounts of characters in the book to learn how when there are more people to share/divide an amount of items with, each person will get less of the items.

They then divided 22 biscuits between the 11 students present to see that each person would get 2 biscuits.

K/1 also looked at items that sink and float. Some of the results surprised  but, overall, we were great at predicting what would sink or float.

Each student sorted pictures of the items on their worksheet and did a fabulous job.
