Term 3
Save the date !
We will be celebrating 100 days brighter on Thursday 25th July.
More information is to come, but it is a day to celebrate with Foundation students completing 100 Days of School and it will take place at school during the usual school day.
Reflection
What an amazing few weeks we have had.
It has been a joy approaching the end of assessment. It has shown how much learning has taken place over the first semester.
Sounds that we have covered recently are; ch for chair, sh for ship and th for thumb. 'Th' also has a second sound which is 'th' for 'the'. We will be reviewing these over the next week also. We have also started introducing fluency passages during our Literacy sessions. Students are working on recognising heart words in the text and are beginning to read a text, rather than words in isolation.
Fire Ed
Over the last few weeks, we have had 2 visits from the Fire Brigade. Students have loved these and they have linked into our Inquiry unit on Community. During these sessions we learnt about good and bad fires, what to do if there is a fire and where we could go to ensure we were safe. We sent home ' A safe meeting place for my family' activity which involved finding a safe meeting space at home if there was ever a fire. Hopefully, this never has to be acted on, but students learnt why it is so important.
We also watched the firefighters get dressed, which they 90 seconds to do so when they get a call out. You might like to use this encouragement to have your child getting dressed quicker than a firefighter, minus the teeth brushing of course.
They also brought their fire truck for a visit. And wow ! We got to use their hose.
If there is ever a fire we now know to, Crawl down low and go go go.
Jumping forward to Week 11
In Numeracy, we have a review on topics covered over the term and looking at equally sharing collections between 2 & 4 people.
In Literacy, we are also completing a review to consolidate areas covered over this term including the digraphs 'sh, ch' and 'th'.
We are looking forward to sharing all students' success with families in the up-and-coming interviews taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
We are wishing you all the best for the up and coming school holidays !
Take Care,
From the Prep Team
