Fabulous Art!
Have you ever been asked to put on your ‘thinking caps’? Well- students in 4A and 4C have done just that! Recycling some old unused caps, students were asked to decorate them with their thoughts and feelings. We took inspiration from aboriginal artists who use symbols to tell their story, dyed the caps with various colours and included patterns, borders and design elements with shape and line. Here are 4C in a thinking cap huddle!
You will see some of these wonderful creations in our upcoming art show… ‘CONNECTIONS’ on Wednesday 23rd October. Please save the date!

Mandarin
In Mandarin class, our grade one students have been enthusiastically learning the names of different animals and numbers. Recently, we combined these two topics to help students form complete sentences. For example, they learned to say and write sentences like "I have one dog" (我有一只狗). This approach not only reinforces their vocabulary but also introduces basic sentence structure in Mandarin.
The students have been doing a fabulous job, showing great progress in both speaking and writing these new sentences. We are proud of their dedication and enthusiasm in practicing these skills.
(你们真棒! ni men zhen bang!) You are amazing!

Physical Education
Our junior school kids just wrapped up their focus on overarm throwing, and they did an awesome job. Everyone was super into it and showed a lot of improvement. They nailed stepping forward with their non-throwing foot, making their throws more accurate and powerful. Seeing them so excited and dedicated was great, setting a strong base for their future sports skills. As always Pokemon Go was a class favourite.
Our senior school recently concluded their athletics training with a focus on hurdles, and it was fantastic to see every student giving it their best effort. A quick reminder that our Athletics Carnival is coming up on Tuesday, 23rd July. Please keep an eye on COMPASS for permissions. To make this event a success, we need plenty of parent helpers, so if you're available, please answer the questions when completing the COMPASS forms.
Performing Arts
It's been an exciting end to the term with final performances of the Level 5 plays and the Level 4 focus on circus skills, but we can't wrap for the holidays without showcasing some of the fabulous work from our Level 6 students. It's become something of a SEPS tradition for the Level 6 students to create parody songs about their time at school as part of their graduation. This term students were offered the opportunity to write their own parody songs, adapting popular tunes to their own purposes.
We had some incredibly entertaining pieces produced, some of which may feature at upcoming school assemblies (stay tuned for more on that), but for now enjoy this short preview.
Excelsior!
