Why have we signed up with Inform and Empower?

St Augustine’s partnered with Inform and Empower to continue strengthening students’ understanding of how to live responsibly and safely in the digital world.

As an eSmart school, we already place a strong focus on teaching students to be safe, respectful and responsible when using technology. The Inform and Empower program helps build on this work by providing engaging, age-appropriate sessions that support our students in developing the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the online world confidently.

By continuing to prioritise programs like Inform and Empower, we are helping our students develop the skills they need to be safe, responsible and empowered digital citizens both at school and at home.

Need some support in monitoring safe online gaming?

Many games allow children to connect online, chat with others and make in-game purchases. To support safe gaming, parents and carers are encouraged to set up devices with safety settings, use parental controls and choose age-appropriate games.

Creating family rules about when and where games can be played, who children can communicate with and limits on screen time can help build healthy gaming habits. It is also important to talk with children about protecting personal information online and encouraging them to seek help from a trusted adult if something online makes them uncomfortable.

Before downloading a game, families are encouraged to check age ratings, read reviews and explore the game’s features to ensure it is suitable.

If any problems occur while gaming online, parents and carers can report concerns through the gaming platform or seek support from the eSafety Commissioner. More information can be found at How to set up and choose games safely | eSafety Commissioner
