Supporting Student Mental Health and Wellbeing

This year I will complete my studies through the University of Melbourne as part of the School Mental Health Leader program. I am currently working in this role within our school.

This role is not designed to replace psychologists or allied health professionals. Instead, it builds on our experience as educators to strengthen mental health awareness and support across the school. The focus is to help build teachers’ mental health literacy, support staff in knowing when and how to refer students for additional support, and help guide the development of wellbeing initiatives for our school community.

As part of this role, I will help facilitate several key projects and initiatives, including:

  • Providing professional learning for staff on mental health literacy and referral pathways
  • Supporting the development and implementation of whole-school wellbeing approaches
  • Working with the leadership team to plan the use of the Schools Mental Health Fund to support student wellbeing initiatives

Student wellbeing is an important part of learning, and we look forward to continuing to support our students and families through these initiatives.

Final Reminder – Teeth On Wheels Visit

Teeth On Wheels will be visiting our School for dental check-ups starting on April 27th 2026.

We understand that dental visits can feel intimidating for children, which is why Teeth On Wheels makes oral health education both fun and engaging. When children enjoy their experience with the dentist, it sets a foundation for positive oral health habits that last a lifetime. Fun, hands-on activities help children develop good habits like regular brushing, flossing, and understanding the importance of healthy teeth. This enjoyable approach not only reduces fear but empowers children to take ownership of their oral health. By creating a positive experience at an early age, we are setting the stage for healthier smiles and stronger habits throughout their life.

To ensure your child is part of this visit, please complete the consent form by clicking the link below:

Complete the consent form HERE!

The cut-off date for completing your child’s form is April 20th 2026.

For any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Teeth On Wheels team at (03) 9338 1191.
